The Beneficial Link Between Neuroplasticity And Mindfulness Meditation

Updated: Apr 7, 2020

“To the mind that is still, the whole universe surrenders,” Lao Tzu.

Learning to manage yourself is learning to manage your mind.

The Management of Self

Neuroplasticity is a noun, defined as ‘the ability of the brain to form and reorganise synaptic connections, especially in response to learning or experience or following injury’.

Self-directed management enhances our capacity to release negative thought patterns which can then allow the mind to naturally transform, grow and heal. Mental de-regulation can allow for more positive habits to develop.

Scientific studies have proven that the human brain is a malleable and pliable organ which

responds to our experiences, thoughts and to the choices we make. We are capable of changing how the brain works, we can alter the brains’ natural negativity bias and stimulate a more positive mental state.

The choice is ours.

With practicing positive self-talk and consciously choosing to increase the experience of positivity daily in our lives, we are able to allow the brain to become ‘tuned-in’ to this new way of being, and this awareness becomes the new habit in which our mind and body naturally tune in to. This positivity within the mind creates the capacity for living in ease, as we experience the liberation from living in constant negative mental and physical states of dis-ease.

When we can accept that living in the present moment is a far more positively purposeful place to be and we become separated from our thought created problems, it is then, in this moment of awareness when we can choose to make decisions which can best enhance our emotional, physical and spiritual self.

The choice is ours.
