In a home or work environment, safety, reward and connection are intertwined. When these needs are not met within our home or work environment, negative and stressful emotions and reactions can take place.
Our lifestyle choices often negatively affect our physical and emotional wellness. Demanding careers, exhaustion, sleep deprivation, little or no exercise, excessive use of alcohol, incorrect meal planning, depression and the like, take it's a toll on us, preventing us from fully enjoying our lives.
Mindfulness meditation practise allows us to slow our 'monkey-mind' down - this is the simple explanation. We can slow down our thought processes, and by so doing invite a new calm rhythm, a spaciousness in our brain which allows us to make positively balanced decisions in order to function at our full potential, without being negatively impacted by the effect of our daily physical and emotional stressors.
In being able to better cope with stress and the bombardment of our busy lives, mindfulness enables us to manage our reactions and emotions more effectively and efficiently. When our minds are in tune, and free from 'clutter' and the often unsettling distraction of daily mental and emotional bombardment, we can experience improved decision-making skills. As the task of decision making becomes clearer and more defined, this continued practice allows for positive growth in our mental, physical and emotional wellbeing.
Developing good critical thinking skills can positively influence all areas of our lives.
